![]() It's worth it to play them all and see what you like most. Some hate the AC4C1-12 but praise the AC4HW, but the circuits are virtually identical! There was once a AC4C1-BL (blue vinyl covered) which came with the same 10" speaker that the AC10C1 uses. Build quality is also not so great on the AC4C1, though. Think of the AC4C1 as the AC10C1's little brother, but without digital reverb and with an ALL-TUBE-SIGNAL-PATH. The AC10C1 and AC15C1s do have master volumes so they could work for home practice, too. If the intent of the amp is primarily home use, there is also the AC4C1. But wait, There's more! You also get an analog solid state spring reverb (the AC10C1 has digital reverb), an analog solid state tremolo and a cut control (which can be helpful when combining a tele with a top boost channel). You also get an industry standard (Celestion Blue or Greenback) 12" speaker. This makes use of the unused gain stage that vox was trying to avoid on the AC10C1. So what more do you get for a similar price? For starters, the addition of the "normal" channel with the AC15C1. Ī new AC10 is about the same price as a used AC15C1. The strange placement of the power tubes makes some common vox-type 10" speaker upgrades impossible. The AC15C1 does have all three tube stages but does have an op-amp mixer for the channels and reverb between the preamp and power amp.īuild quality on the AC10 is non-ideal. The first tube stage was replaced with a MOSFET to save vox having to pay for another tube. Here's a summary of facts on the AC10C1 (most of which are not very popular!)įor starters, the AC10C1 does not have the three tube stages necessary for the "real" vox top boost channel. I do not play live but dream of putting together a group for fun and rock and roll. I will also be adding at least one epi hollow/semi hollow body and another Strat. If it helps, the plan is to buy a 360/6, a 360/12c63, and probably at least 1 620 style Solid body. The question is, is it worth it? Should I order a used one? Or buy one of the other amps mentioned. I think it should probably be a Vox AC10 (JC22/40 makes the short list as does a Princeton Reverb and an AC15). Amp wise, I have the Class 5, a late 70”s Vibro Champ, a Monoprice 5 watt tube, and a Vox Pathfinder which I have removed the gate LED from.Ĭlearly I need a new amp to go with the RIC 12. I have 2 teles (both classic vibes), a Strat (also a classic vibe), an Epi 61 Sg reissue. So here is the deal, my brothers and sisters.
